Netflix doesn't waste any time when it comes to canceling a series. Brand new on the hit list: Dead Boy Detectives.

The supernatural series only started in April 2024 and apparently could not meet the provider’s internal expectations, which is why it ends after just one season.

Fans of the series are deeply shocked, after all, Dead Boy Detectives was well received by critics and audiences: On the review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, for example, the series holds an impressive score of 92 percent satisfaction (Source: Rotten Tomatoes).

Particularly the LGBTQ community Feels offended by the sudden cancellation, as numerous posts on the platform X (formerly Twitter) confirm:

The cancellation of Dead Boy Detectives only proves that Netflix still believes that diverse stories are relevant or simply not worth promoting.

But the fans are not giving up yet: Via the hashtag SaveDeadBoyDetectives Try to get Netflix to rethink its approach. It wouldn’t be the first time that such a movement has been successful – see the fantasy series Warrior Nun.

In the footsteps of The Sandman

Dead Boy Detectives is about an agency, who solves supernatural crimes. The facility is run by Charles and Edwin, two undead.

The series has often been compared to Supernatural and was written by Neil Gaiman, the creator of The Sandman. The series of the same name was a big hit on Netflix in 2022. Dead Boy Detectives is set in the same universe and should also have crossovers later on.
