One dead after accident involving tractor and pickup truck

FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. (FOX26) — A tractor driver died in a fatal accident near Selma on Monday.

Fresno County Police said they were notified of an injury-involving crash involving a tractor-trailer and a pickup truck on Floral Avenue west of Temperance Avenue at 8:15 p.m. Monday evening.

Officials and rescue workers arrived at the scene.

Initial reports indicate an adult male was driving a tractor east on Floral toward Temperance.

The tractor had taillights on.

A Toyota Tacoma driven by an adult male was traveling east on Floral Street and approached the rear of the tractor.

According to CHP, the driver of the Toyota did not see the tractor early enough and collided with the rear of the tractor.

The impact caused the tractor driver to be thrown onto the unpaved shoulder, resulting in serious injuries.

The driver of the tractor was taken to hospital where he later died.

The driver of the Toyota remained at the scene of the accident and cooperated with the investigation.

According to the CHP, there is no suspicion that alcohol or drug use played a role.

The investigation is ongoing.
