Russia continues deadly airstrikes as Ukrainian president orders cabinet reshuffle

In Ukraine, two Russian missiles struck a military academy and a hospital in the city of Poltava on Tuesday, killing at least 51 people and wounding over 270 others. It was one of the deadliest attacks on Ukraine since the Russian invasion in early 2022. In another attack, a 38-year-old mother and her 8-year-old son were killed in a Russian raid on a hotel in Ukraine's Zaporizhia region. Survivors say the attack came almost without warning.

Anna Savchenko: “Two minutes after the air raid alarm was sounded, there was an explosion. We had no time to hide. There was a very strong explosion. We heard people screaming. We understood that the hotel had collapsed.”

Overnight, Poland's military said it had sent Polish and allied warplanes to the border with Ukraine after Russia launched drone and missile attacks on the western Ukrainian city of Lviv, killing seven people, including three children.

Meanwhile, several senior Ukrainian ministers have offered their resignations in the biggest shake-up of the Ukrainian government to date. The most prominent resignations include Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba and weapons chief Oleksandr Kamyshin.
