While opposition leader Rahul Gandhi will officially launch the Congress party's election campaign on Wednesday, Indian Home Minister Amit Shah will arrive in Jammu on September 6 to release the BJP's much-awaited election manifesto for the Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections.

Apart from releasing the party's election manifesto, Amit Shah will address a massive rally in Jammu on the same day to inaugurate the BJP's election campaign.

This is the first visit of the Union Home Minister before the elections in Jammu and Kashmir. He will campaign for his party's candidates in Jammu.

A senior BJP politician, speaking on condition of anonymity, confirmed that the Union Home Minister will visit Jammu on September 6 to release the party's election manifesto.

The Indian government has enacted its own laws to ensure compliance with the BJP's democratic principles.

BJP has formed a 12-member campaign committee

On August 8, the BJP formed a 12-member manifesto committee under the leadership of former Deputy Chief Minister Dr. Nirmal Singh.

Since its founding, this committee has asked the population for suggestions for a people-oriented electoral manifesto.
Suggestions from the public are collected via special telephone numbers and email addresses.

The committee was formed by Jammu and Kashmir Chief Electoral Officer and Union Minister GK Reddy. Persons wishing to remain anonymous have been requested to give their suggestions on toll-free number 9541903938.

Separate teams approached the people of Central Kashmir, North Kashmir and South Kashmir. The suggestions were summarised in a report which was sent to the top leadership in Delhi for the manifesto.

BJP starts aggressive election campaign

The BJP is preparing for the upcoming parliamentary elections in Jammu and Kashmir with a robust campaign strategy.

Senior party politicians, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Health Minister JP Nadda, will lead the campaign by addressing 10 to 15 rallies across the Union Territory in the coming days.

The parliamentary elections in Jammu and Kashmir will be held in three phases on September 18, 25 and October 1, the Election Commission of India announced on August 16. The votes will be counted on October 8.

After a break of more than 10 years, parliamentary elections are being held again in Jammu and Kashmir. The last parliamentary elections were held in 2014.

In 2019, the government divided the former state into two union territories – the other being Ladakh – and repealed Article 370 of the Constitution.
