Three injured in shooting during vigil for victims of triple murder in Bessemer

Bessemer Police held a press conference on Tuesday, September 3, following a series of shootings over Labor Day weekend in which nine people were shot.

According to Bessemer police, a vigil by the families of victims of the recent triple murder in Bessemer took a tragic turn when shots were fired and three people were injured.

According to Bessemer police, the vigil was held at the Citgo gas station on 9th Avenue North, the same location where the triple murder occurred.

Bessemer police reported that three people were struck by the gunfire, but fortunately their injuries are not life-threatening. All three victims were taken to a local hospital.

Mayor Kenneth E. Gulley has issued a statement to Bessemer residents and members of the press addressing the tragic events that recently rocked the city.

Bessemer Police Chief Michael Wood says his department is exploring all legal options to address gun violence at the store and potentially close it down.

There is no information about the suspect.

Bessemer police added that they had no knowledge of a vigil at that location.
