A Tulsa man appeared in Washington County District Court Tuesday after being arrested last week in Bartlesville on assault and other charges.

Joshua Phillips, 22, was charged with domestic violence (simple assault) and battery on a police officer, a felony, resisting an officer, and property damage and vandalism. It is alleged that Phillips attacked his stepfather after an argument over texting at a home in the 1200 block of SE Prarie Heights Drive around 8 p.m. on Wednesday, August 28. Witnesses say Phillips was intoxicated, and an arrest affidavit states Phillips shoulder-butted a police officer and struggled with officers after being arrested.

Phillips suffered a bloody lip during the altercation with police and was taken to a local hospital, where he reportedly behaved aggressively toward nursing staff.

Phillps was transported to the Washington County Detention Center where he is being held on $50,000 bail. His next court hearing is scheduled for September 6 at 9 a.m.
