Man arrested after allegedly stabbing two people in Clifton

GRAND JUNCTION, Colorado (KJCT) – A man was taken to jail after allegedly stabbing two people.

Early Monday morning, officers from the Mesa County Sheriff's Office arrived in Clifton after a stabbing was reported.

Officers found two people with stab wounds. Both victims were taken to hospital.

Based on witness statements, they were able to identify the suspect and arrest him at around 12.30 p.m.

Flavio Meraz-Morquecho was booked into the Mesa County Detention Center and charged with:

  • Menacing – Real/Simulated Weapon – Two (2) Counts – Class 5 Felony
  • Assault in the 1st Degree – Intent to Cause Serious Bodily Injury with a Deadly Weapon – Class 3 Felony
  • Assault in the 2nd Degree – Reckless, Serious Bodily Injury with a Deadly Weapon – Class 3 Felony

Officers searched the scene and the surrounding area for further information. The weapon used in the incident has not been confirmed.
