Vanrhyns Pass reopened after fatal bus accident

JOHANNESBURG – Police are still monitoring the crash site of the tragic Vanrhyns Pass accident that left ten people dead and 29 others injured.

The bus went off the road on Monday.

An investigation is currently underway to determine the cause of the crash.

The police prevented on Tuesday Eyewitness news from taking photographs or approaching the crash site.

A small barrier was erected on the section of the pass where the bus had left the road.

In addition, the bus and the remains of the accident can still be seen scattered at the foot of the pass.

Rescue workers have now left the area and police on site said all 42 passengers had been evacuated from the scene of the accident.

All lanes on the pass are open and the public has been asked not to share images of the accident on social media.
