Mother of baby found dead in south Brisbane daycare describes tragic loss

The mother of a little boy who died at a family-run daycare center in Brisbane's south has described her grief over the sudden, tragic loss.

Emergency services were called to a property in Wakerley after the one-year-old was found dead at around 3.30pm on Monday.

According to The Courier Mail, the baby, Riley Ma, was in good spirits when she was dropped off at a local family's daycare center just after 7:30 a.m.

Later that same day, Riley's father reportedly received a message saying “something bad had happened” and was told to go to the property.

A close family friend, Katrina Zhang, told The Courier Mail that by the time the father got there, an ambulance had already arrived.

“The father got there pretty quickly and found Riley unresponsive,” Ms. Zhang said.

“The ambulance was already there and tried to resuscitate him.

“They tried for a while and then just said he was already gone.”

Ms Zhang said it had been “devastating for the family”.

Riley's mother, who was not named, told The Courier-Mail that she was finding it difficult to cope with the loss.

“I can't drink, I can't eat, I can't sleep, I just miss my little boy,” she said.

“My husband and I loved our baby very much.

“He is my everything.”

Queensland Police said investigations into the circumstances of the boy's sudden death were ongoing.

“No further information is available at this time,” they said.
