At least ten dead after migrant boat sinks in the English Channel

At least ten dead after migrant boat capsizes in the English Channel

A tragic incident occurred on Tuesday 3 September when a boat carrying migrants sank while crossing the Channel from France to the UK.

According to Sky NewsAccording to the portal, there were at least 100 migrants on board the boat, which sank at around 11.30 a.m. local time (10.30 a.m. British time).

At least ten people are believed to have died and about ten migrants suffered cardiac arrest. Reuters.

The incident occurred in the English Channel, a busy and dangerous shipping route with strong currents that make such crossings risky.

Currently, French Coast Guard ships and helicopters are leading rescue efforts near Le Portel. The mayor has closed the beach to support the operation.

According to the British government, more than 2,000 people arrived in the UK in small boats last week.

In August, two migrants were found dead after a similar boat accident.
