Emergency services were dispatched and the road was closed near the junction with Orchard Street and the Flying Boat Pub.

Two men and a woman were taken to a London hospital where they were treated for stab wounds. They remain in a stable condition.

Officers believe the suspect and the three victims know each other and are treating the incident as an isolated case.

Yesterday (2 September), a 29-year-old man was arrested in Scotland on suspicion of attempted murder.

He will be taken to a police station in Kent while detectives continue their investigation.

One said: “We didn't realise what had happened until we started work in the morning and the area was cordoned off.”

“It's very shocking. This is not a quiet area, it's full of shoppers during the day and people going to the bars in the evening.”

“There are sometimes fights here, but nothing like this has ever happened.”

Following the incident, Dartford MP Jim Dickson also posted his concerns on X. He said: “I am very concerned about this violent incident last night in the centre of Dartford.”

“I hope everyone involved makes a full recovery. I will be asking Kent Police what more can be done to increase security in the town and keep everyone safer.”

Police officers were still at the scene on Sunday morning (September 1) and Spital Street was also closed to assist with the investigation.

It has now reopened.
