Microphones damaged after arson at church in Meru

A chilling police report has revealed disturbing details of an arson attack at the Kianjai branch of the East African Pentecostal Church of Kenya in Meru County.

According to the report, investigations have revealed that a certain Pastor Daniel Mururu allegedly forced his female congregants to perform sexual acts.

“The pastor allegedly ordered women and girls to be stripped naked, their pubic hair to be shaved, their breasts to be sucked and sex to be had with said women and girls in the church,” the report said.

“The orders were carried out by the church elders and ushers.”

Citing the statements of 23 witnesses, the report states that a 17-year-old underage girl fell victim to the priest and was already five months pregnant.

“More than seven women between the ages of seventeen (17) and seventy (70) also reported being subjected to indecent assault by the pastor and his church elders, including sucking their breasts, shaving their pubic hair and inserting fingers into their private parts,” the report added.

Officials believe that the suspected pastor, together with the elders of the church, led a cult that manipulated its followers to commit heinous acts.

Church leaders are said to have threatened congregants with “illness and infertility if they disobeyed the pastor’s instructions and prophecies.”

Further investigations into the incidents are ongoing.

Officials also dismissed earlier reports that the arson was the result of a land dispute.
