Big Island man arrested and charged with alleged sexual assault of a minor

HILO (HawaiiNewsNow) – A Papaikou man has been charged with allegedly sexually abusing a minor under the age of 14, prosecutors said.

Jeremy Kaaukai was charged with sexual harassment in connection with the incidents, which prosecutors say occurred between 2012 and 2016. He was arrested Saturday on a $250,000 warrant.

Kaaaukai is charged with four counts of first-degree sexual assault and one count of continued sexual assault of a minor.

His first appearance in Hilo Circuit Court is scheduled for Tuesday afternoon.

If convicted, he faces a maximum sentence of up to 20 years in prison.
