Families grow: SELVA NEGRA presents two new products at BCB 2024

It has been almost three years since the first German agave spirit had its official launch. The founders Laurin Lehmann and Sebastian Dresel are now letting the family grow and are presenting two new products at this year's Bar Convent Berlin. Here they give a first insight and talk about the past and future of SELVA NEGRA:

Review of the last 3 years:

“The last 3 years have been absolutely insane in every respect. We started with the dream of gaining a foothold in the upscale gastronomy and hotel industry and today we have formed such a strong community around our brand that it is even growing and thriving beyond Germany's borders. The conclusion: German agave spirits have a market. We and our restaurateurs and specialist retailers have opened it up. That makes us very proud.”

How they see the market:

“We made the decision to start with a mezcal-style spirit.” Mezcal is still a niche in the rapidly growing agave sector. Nevertheless, we are happy that we followed our gut feeling back then. Mezcal is still very popular with bartenders and was therefore the biggest challenge possible. We knew that if we went down this path, we could lose everything if we didn't deliver, but we could win everything if we did deliver.

Convincing the industry, spirits professionals and bartenders out there with a mezcal-style spirit that also comes from Germany seemed impossible until now, but we dared to do it and revealed we did a good job. Now it's time to expand our portfolio and we're going to do it with a bang.”

What is planned?

“We will have our own stand at this year's Bar Convent Berlin and will be presenting two new products.” It's not just our stand that will be new. Our arrival will be something very special. It will be a thank you to our restaurateurs. A big thank you. A very big one. You will be able to find out exactly what we have planned on October 13th on our social media page. Stay tuned. It's going to be really cool.”

The new products:

“We don't want to give too much of a price yet.” One thing is certain: smoke and forest will not be the focus this time. Our new products will also appeal to tequila lovers. That's for sure. We're staying true to our agave and will again bring the Black Forest region into the mix. The aim was to retain the DNA of the Classico and still create something that reaches a wider audience. The danger here is that it will become trashy.

Florian Faude accepted the challenge and what can we say? The man has delivered once again. We are really looking forward to presenting the new products at the BCB. There is just as much love in all the details as with the Classico and we are staying true to our line. Agave in focus with a touch of the Black Forest in the bag. You will find out the rest in a few weeks. We look forward to seeing you!”
