Five minor students charged with sodomy of a younger student in a school in Madhya Pradesh

Narmadapuram, MP: An eighth-grade student of a government school in Narmadapuram district of the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh was allegedly anally abused several times by his five senior students, police said on Tuesday.

The victim claimed to have been sexually abused for nearly two years, it was said.

“The Class 8 student and his family filed a complaint on Monday. The student was admitted to the government boarding school in July 2022 and was living in the hostel where his five senior students sexually exploited him,” said Praveen Chouhan, in-charge of Dehat (rural) police station.

According to the complaint, the boy was last sexually exploited in December 2023, he said.

The accused were subsequently charged under Sections 377 (unnatural sexual intercourse), 294 (obscene act), 323 (intentional causing hurt) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), in addition to the provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO).

All five accused and the victim are minors, Chouhan said.

Further legal action would be taken based on the facts that come to light during the investigation, he said.

The student said that when he told his father about his ordeal, his father complained to the school principal, but the principal did nothing, so they contacted the police.
