Fire breaks out in intensive care unit of Govt Jaya Arogya Hospital in Gwalior

Gwalior (Madhya Pradesh) [India]September 3 (ANI): A fire broke out in the intensive care unit of the trauma centre of Government Jaya Arogya Hospital in Gwalior district of India's Madhya Pradesh on Tuesday morning due to a short circuit in the central air-conditioning system, a doctor on duty said.

Thanks to the quick intervention of medical staff at the hospital, the fire was brought under control.

The patients who were being treated in the intensive care unit were also immediately transferred to another ward and no casualties were reported in the incident, he added.

Dr Amol, who was on duty, told ANI, “There was a short circuit in the central air-conditioning unit of the ICU of the hospital, due to which the fire broke out and was immediately brought under control. There were no casualties in the accident. There were six patients in the ward and all were safely shifted to another ward. All patients and staff are safe.” Dr RKS Dhakad, Dean, Gajra Raja Medical College, told ANI, “I received information about a fire that broke out in the central air-conditioning unit of the ICU in the morning. Our doctors and paramedical staff immediately doused the fire using fire extinguishers and all the patients were shifted to another ward along with the ventilator. It is good that there were no casualties in the incident.” (ANI)
