Flavor Flav says he has applied to be a torchbearer at the 2028 Olympics

Flavor Flav served as an endorser and official sponsor of the U.S. Olympic water polo teams at the 2024 Games, and now he wants to take his involvement to a new level when the 2028 Olympic Games return to the U.S. in Los Angeles.

The Public Enemy rapper joined iHearts Politician Podcast hosted by California Governor Gavin Newsom, former NFL star Marshawn Lynch and agent Doug Hendrickson in Wednesday's (August 28) episode, where Flav revealed that he has already submitted the paperwork to bid to be one of the USA's torchbearers at the 2028 Olympics.

“You know what? I feel like I could be one of them,” he teased. “I already put my offer in. I said, 'If Snoop can carry the torch in Paris – come on, man – then Flav can carry that bad boy in LA,' and Snoop did a fantastic job, man.”

Flav gave Snoop Dogg his flowers: “He was awesome. Even though they were paying him half a million a day, Snoop was out there getting a nice payday. Other than the payday, he did a good job and I know the man was having a good time out there. Big kudos to you, Snoop.”

The Long Island native wants the “Gin and Juice” rapper to gift him one of his customized Olympic pins. “I want one of those pins too,” he added. “He has his own Olympic pin. I'm going to try to get one of those Olympic pins.”

Snoop Dogg and Pharrell served as official torchbearers at the 2024 Summer Olympics, carrying the torch through the streets of Paris.

“I consider this a prestigious honor and something I really respect,” Snoop told the Associated Press ahead of the 2024 Summer Olympics. “I never dreamed of something like this.”

Flavor Flav was omnipresent at the Olympics this summer, donating $1,000 and a cruise to the U.S. women's water polo team and helping cover the rental costs of discus thrower Veronica Fraley. He even offered gymnast Jordan Chiles an oversized, rhinestone-encrusted bronze watch to replace the medal she was stripped of on a technicality.

Listen to the podcast below. The talk of Flav's Olympic efforts starts at about 56 minutes.
