The emergency services immediately launched a “massive fire-fighting attack” to extinguish the six concrete mixers, the wheel loader and other equipment. According to a fire department spokesman, the fire on the conveyor belt also reached the top of the mixing silo and set it on fire. The fire was extinguished using a turntable ladder with a swivel pipe – a type of water cannon mounted on the metal basket.

In the morning, the Attorney General's Office finally took over the case – proof that the investigating authorities currently assume that the arson attack was politically motivated. On the police side, the investigation is being carried out by the EG “Raute”, as Chief Public Prosecutor Klaus Ruhland confirmed when asked by the AZ. “Due to the nature of the crime and the object of the crime, an extremist background is assumed, and investigations are being carried out in all directions.” The Attorney General's Office said that it is being examined whether there is a connection to other fires.

At least 30 similar fires have occurred in Munich and Upper Bavaria since 2019. Most recently, unknown persons set fire to a construction train in July, causing damage in the hundreds of thousands of euros. (AZ reported)The targets of the arson attacks so far have mostly been facilities of the so-called “critical infrastructure”, including bridges, railway lines, power lines and fiber optic cables. The other targets were forestry machines, warehouses and construction vehicles, including those near the state parliament.
