Who is Taylor Frankie Paul from The Secret Lives of Mormon Lives?

Taylor Frankie Paul made the leap from social media to television with her appearance on “The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives” on Hulu.

The new series, which debuts Friday, takes a behind-the-scenes look at the lives of Paul and a group of Mormon #MomTok influencers in the years following a “soft swinging” scandal.

In 2022, Paul said in a TikTok Live that members of the group engaged in soft swinging, in which couples share sexual partners but do not have penetrative sex. Other members denied involvement but were drawn into the resulting drama.

Mormon MomTokers are the latest group of influencers to get their own reality show as streaming companies like Netflix and Hulu try to capitalize on the social media platform's success.

Paul is the most popular member of the Mormon MomTok group, with 4.1 million followers on the platform, and is the focus of early episodes of “The Secret Lives of Mormon Lives.”

Here's what you should know about them.

Taylor Frankie Paul has three children.

Paul, 30, grew up and lives in Salt Lake City. She began documenting her pregnancy on TikTok in 2020 and slowly gained a following through viral videos of her dancing and showing her life as a non-stereotypical Mormon mother.

In the first episode of “The Secret Lives of Mormon Lives,” Paul said Mormon MomTok was born when she began working with other Mormon mothers such as Whitney Leavitt, Mayci Neeley and Mikayla Matthews. The group has grown since then.

At the time of her first post, Paul had a daughter, Indy, with her ex-husband Tate Paul, and another was on the way. Ocean, her second child with Paul, was born in June 2022.

In March 2024, Paul had a third child with her new partner Dakota Mortensen.

Paul divorced her first husband after the soft swing scandal.

In a TikTok live video in May 2022, Paul said her husband was divorcing her because she violated the rules of their swinger agreement with the Mormon MomTokers.

Paul said she “backed out of that agreement” by getting drunk and making out with the husband of one of her friends. Paul said she developed feelings for the man, whom she did not name, but lost most of her friends as a result of the incident.

Paul did not mention who else was involved in the soft swinging, and the rest of #Momtok denied involvement, leading to wild speculation.

After the divorce, Paul was with Dakota Mortensen.

In July 2022, Paul announced on TikTok that she has a new boyfriend, Mortensen, a real estate agent and TikToker who is also Mormon. Mortensen has posted about his journey to recovery from drug addiction.

Since getting together in 2022, the two have been together on and off.

Paul negotiated a deal in a domestic violence case.

In February 2023, Herriman City Police said in a statement on X that Paul was arrested at a home in Salt Lake City for “misdemeanors of assault, property damage, and domestic violence in the presence of a child.”

The statement said investigators also obtained “additional video evidence” following the arrest, which was forwarded to the Salt Lake County District Attorney's Office for review for possible charges of aggravated assault and negligent child abuse.

In March 2023, E! News reported that Paul was charged with One count of aggravated assault, two counts of domestic violence in the presence of a child resulting in injury, one count of minor child abuse and one count of minor property damage.

E! News reported, citing court documents, that a video of the incident shows Paul attacking her boyfriend Mortensen in his home in front of their two children, Indy and Ocean.

According to the documents, the video showed Paul kicking Mortensen, putting him in a chokehold and throwing chairs, one of which hit Indy.

In August, the Salt Lake Tribune reported that Paul had accepted a plea deal that dropped all charges except for aggravated assault and sentenced her to one day in jail.

The publication reported, citing Paul's agreement, that she would have to undergo an evaluation for substance abuse and domestic violence.

Paul must also undergo a drug test, not violate any laws beyond minor traffic violations, and has been banned from entering any buildings where alcohol is the primary item of sale.

Paul and Mortensen stayed together after the arrest and are still dating.
