Stafford County man arrested for attempted murder after stabbing

STAFFORD, Virginia. — A 22-year-old man is in custody following a stabbing attack Sunday morning on Warrenton Road. Officers with the Stafford County Sheriff's Office responded to Mr. B's Exxon call in the 300 block of Warrenton Road around 9:31 a.m. after receiving reports of a stabbing attack.

Upon arrival, Deputy JE Cordes discovered an adult male victim with multiple life-threatening stab wounds. Due to the victim losing a significant amount of blood, Deputy Cordes placed a tourniquet on one arm while Deputy CD Sullivan, who arrived shortly after, placed a tourniquet on the victim's other arm. The victim was then transported to a hospital for treatment by EMS.

The suspect, identified as J'Lei Bland of Stafford, was encountered at a residence on Anvil Road. The Stafford County SWAT and drone team were activated and officers established a security perimeter around the home. Bland was subsequently called out of the home and arrested without incident.

Bland has been charged with attempted murder and malicious wounding and is currently being held without bail at the Rappahannock Regional Jail.

The investigation is ongoing. The Stafford County Sheriff's Office praised officers for their quick and effective life-saving actions at the scene and expressed hope for the victim's full recovery.

    PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. — All lanes of southbound Route 4 at Traskers Boulevard in Prince Frederick were closed due to an accident. The Calvert County Sheriff's Office announced the closure today and urged motorists to use alternate routes. The road has since reopened.

  • Utica police investigate assault at local pub

    UTICA, New York: — Utica police are investigating an assault that occurred early Saturday morning at the Green Onion pub on Genesee Street. The incident occurred around 12:30 a.m. on Aug. 31 and resulted in serious injuries to a patron.

    The victim suffered a stab wound to the right side of his face and several broken ribs. The suspect is described as an unknown black male.

    The case has been assigned to the Utica Criminal Investigation Division and the investigation is ongoing. Authorities are asking anyone with information about the incident to contact Utica Police at 315-223-3556.
