Terrorists open fire at Sunjwan military base in Jammu, one soldier injured | News from India

An Indian soldier was injured on Monday when terrorists opened fire at Jammu's Sunjwan air base, news agency ANI quoted officials as saying. Defence officials said the terrorists fired from a safe distance outside the base. Further details are yet to be released.

On Thursday, the Indian Army successfully neutralised three terrorists who tried to cross the Line of Control (LoC) into Machhal and Tangdhar sectors in Jammu and Kashmir.

According to an official statement, “Reliable information about possible infiltration attempts from these regions was obtained from intelligence agencies and confirmed by the Jammu and Kashmir Police. Based on this information, the Indian Army along with the JKP and the BSF have set up ambushes on the suspected infiltration routes in Machhal and Tangdhar sectors.”

Suspicious activities were detected on the evening of August 28, which led to a gun battle that continued into the early hours of August 29. This is the sixth such operation in Kupwara district this year and culminated in the elimination of ten terrorists, including foreign infiltrators.
