He just wanted to relax in the water, have fun and cool off in the midsummer temperatures of 30 degrees. Now the seven-year-old is dead. Despite the rapid and professional intervention of all the forces involved, the boy who had drowned in the lake could only be rescued from the lake hours later at around 9:50 p.m. A crisis intervention team and an imam looked after the shocked relatives.

Forces from the THW Bensheim, the Bensheim fire department, the DLRG Bensheim, Heppenheim and Lampertheim with a sonar boat, eight divers and water detection dogs, the Mannheim fire department with divers, three ambulances and a police helicopter were deployed at the scene.
