Sexual harassment: Teacher arrested for sexually harassing a fourth-grade student | Nashik News

Nashik: The Wadner Khakurdi Police of Nashik Rural arrested a 56 year old school Teacher on Friday for sexually abusing a fourth-grade student.
On Saturday, the accused teacher was brought before the court, which remanded him in police custody until September 4.
Shishirkumar Deshmukh, assistant inspector of Wadner Khakurdi police station, said there was a small school near a village in Malegaon taluka.
“The accused teacher is alleged to have been sexually abusing the girl since the third standard. On Friday, the girl told her sister about the teacher's actions. Subsequently, the family came to know about it and the matter was taken up with the village elders. The villagers then contacted the school authorities and reported the incident, after which the police were called. The teacher was arrested,” Deshmukh said.
Deshmukh said an FIR had been filed against the teacher under sections 64 and 65 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and other relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act.
“Soon after we came to know about the matter, we visited the village and carried out the legal process where we first detained the teacher and then arrested him after a medical examination. The education department also took strict notice of the matter and suspended the teacher.”
