Notre Dame fans love the enthusiastic Marcus Freeman

Notre Dame's head coach let his emotions run wild in College Station

I imagine the biggest challenge for the first head coach is figuring out how to present himself to the public.

What will your character be like? Will you be intense and agitated all the time? Will you be more calm or stoic? A mix of both, depending on the circumstances?

I feel like Marcus Freeman had to figure this out for himself, and quite publicly, in the spotlight at Notre Dame. He seems to have bounced back and forth between more stoic approaches and the more fired-up version of himself we saw Saturday night.

And Irish fans can't get enough of it.

It is crucial to coordinate the behaviour and the game of the head coach

The most important part of this equation is not the looks. It's about the connection between a coach and his team. However he behaves, does his approach and message resonate with the team and motivate them?

Against Texas A&M, Freeman pushed all the right buttons. He was hot and ready to go, and so was his team. They went into SEC country and got a win the team desperately needed, and one Freeman himself needed.

This win puts Notre Dame on track for a playoff run with a first-round game in South Bend, with the ideal scenario—perhaps a rematch against Texas A&M?—quite possible.
