Swansea: Woman charged with murder of 6-year-old child and attempted murder of 67-year-old man | UK news

A woman is accused of murdering a six-year-old boy.

Alexander Zurawski died on Thursday at a property in the Gendros district of Swansea.

Karolina Zurawska, 41, was charged with his murder. She was also charged with attempted murder in connection with an incident involving a 67-year-old man earlier that day.

She will appear before Swansea Magistrates Court on Monday.

Emergency services were called to Cwm Du Close at 8.30pm on Thursday.

Officials also confirmed that the child and the woman had lived together and that they are not looking for anyone else in connection with the death.

Family honor for “very friendly child”

In a statement from South Wales Police, Alexander's family said: “Alexander was a very friendly child.

“He loved playing with his little sister and his dog 'Daisy'.

“Alexander was always well behaved and never naughty.”

The family added: “He was very smart and very mature for his age. He had a lot of knowledge.

“Alexander was always helpful. Always ready to help with cooking and cleaning.

“Alexander spoke both English and Polish and often corrected his parents with their English when they mispronounced words.

“He was incredible.”

“Disturbing incident” – Police

Chief Superintendent Chris Truscott, Divisional Commander for Swansea and Neath Port Talbot, said: “This is a disturbing incident which has come as a huge shock to the local community.”

“The local community has been extremely supportive of our investigations and we would like to thank them all for their patience during these traumatic days.

“In the coming days, the police will remain present on site to offer advice and reassurance.

“Our thoughts are with Alexander’s family and friends during this difficult time.”

“Alexander was a delightful boy”

Bethan Peterson, headteacher of Whitestone Primary School, said: “We are devastated to learn of Alexander’s tragic death.

“Alexander was a delightful, determined little boy whose tenacity and positive nature ensured success in everything he undertook.

“He was an extremely popular and well-liked boy with his peers, his staff and everyone who knew him. We will miss him very much.”

“Appropriate support will be provided to the children, staff and all those affected in our school community.”

“We ask that you respect the privacy of our school community during this difficult time.”
