Actor Jayasurya breaks his silence on sexual harassment allegations and shares a long note

Actor Jayasurya has denied the allegations of sexual harassment made against him and announced that he will file a case. Many well-known personalities of Mollywood, including veteran actor Siddique and filmmaker Ranjith Balakrishnan, have been accused of sexual harassment and rape. This case is one of many such allegations. Two actors have filed cases against Jayasurya, both of which are false according to the actors.

Jayasurya denies allegations of sexual harassment

On Sunday, Jayasurya posted a long note on Instagram about the allegations. “I have decided to take legal action. My legal team will handle the rest of the proceedings in this case. False accusations are easy for anyone without a conscience to make. I just hope that people realize that being faced with a false accusation of harassment is as painful as the harassment itself,” Jayasurya said in the post.

“A lie always spreads faster than the truth, but I believe the truth will prevail. All legal proceedings to prove my innocence will continue. I have full confidence in our justice system. Thank you to everyone who helped make this birthday one of the most painful,” he added.


About the Justice Hema Committee

Following the release of the Justice Hema Committee report documenting allegations of sexual harassment by women in the industry, the MeToo movement gained ground in the Malayalam film industry. Several FIRs were filed against prominent Malayalam actors and filmmakers following allegations of sexual harassment against them.

The Government of Kerala formed the Hema Committee for Justice following the 2017 actress assault case, and its report uncovered cases of harassment and exploitation of women in the Malayalam film industry.
