Special NIA court convicts three persons in Khaja Moideen ISIS case 2020

On Saturday, a special court of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in Delhi convicted three people involved in the 2020 ISIS Khaja Moideen case.

On Saturday, a special court of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in Delhi convicted three people involved in the 2020 ISIS Khaja Moideen case.

Khaja Moideen, the main accused, had earlier gone into hiding in another murder case after his release on bail and was found guilty of conspiring to revive the ISIS network in India. The trio were arrested after the firing incident in Wazirabad, New Delhi.

In addition, Moideen and Syed Ali Nawas were each sentenced to seven years' imprisonment and a fine of Rs 7,500, while Abdul Samad was sentenced to serve the sentence already served.

In a press release, the NIA said: “The Special Judge of the NIA at Patiala House Complex in New Delhi on Saturday convicted three accused in the 2020 Khaja Moideen ISIS case in which they had indiscriminately fired at policemen to evade arrest.”

Earlier, the accused, who had indiscriminately fired at a police group to avoid arrest, were convicted on August 6, 2024. The individuals – Khaja Moideen, Syed Ali Nawas and Abdul Samad – were arrested in Delhi on January 9, 2020 and have been in judicial custody since then.
