Doctors' Association expresses concerns about election integrity and corruption allegations at IMA

“The Indian Medical Association has long been a symbol of ethical conduct and professionalism within the medical community. It is vital that we maintain the highest standards of transparency and democracy within our organization to retain the trust of the members,” the letter said.

Responding to the letter, Dr RV Asokan, National President, IMA, said, “This is an electoral dispute and there is a redressal mechanism within the IMA itself where an aggrieved member can file a complaint. The matter will be dealt with as per the rules and statutes of the IMA.”

“FAIMA is a separate organisation which looks after the affairs of the junior doctors. It has its own rules and elections. We are not affiliated. It is an independent body. However, some of the junior doctors may have become members of the IMA. As such, they are self-governing and independent and have nothing to do with the IMA,” said Dr Asokan.
