Search and rescue operation underway for missing man after truck plunges into sea at Westport Wharf in Port Klang

SHAH ALAM, Sept. 1 – A search and rescue operation is underway for a man who is believed to have fallen into the sea in an accident involving a truck at Westport wharf near here this afternoon.

“Search and rescue (SAR) operation is underway involving four members of the Port Klang BBP water rescue team. The victim is yet to be found,” Selangor Fire and Rescue Department director Wan Md Razali Wan Ismail said in a statement.

Wan Md Razali Wan Ismail said his team received a call about the incident at 12.45pm, involving the man, Mohd Hafiz Abdul Salam (24), who fell into the sea as a result of the accident.

Wan Md Razali said the incident also involved the truck in question, which fell into the sea.

“Four officers and members of the Pulau Indah Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) were subsequently dispatched to the scene, assisted by three members of the Shah Alam BBP, a boat and 13 members of the Westport Authority.

Wan Md Razali said the SAR operation also received support from the marine police and the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA), as well as two boats. — Bernama
