Actor Jayasurya, who is accused of sexual exploitation and abuse, described the allegations against him as false.

In a Facebook post, Jayasurya said the false allegations had “shaken” him, his family and friends. He said he and his family were in the US and would return soon to pursue legal action against the charges.

Mr Jayasurya said his legal team had taken over the case and his defence. The actor exuded confidence that he would prove his innocence in court. “I have complete faith in our justice system,” he said.

“False accusations are easy for anyone without a conscience to make. I just hope that people realize that being faced with a false accusation of harassment is as painful as the harassment itself. A lie always travels faster than the truth, but I believe the truth will prevail,” Jayasurya wrote.

Mr. Jayasurya had written the note on his birthday. “Let him who has not sinned throw stones, but only at him who has sinned,” Mr. Jayasurya said.

Last week, the Cantonment police arrested Mr. Jayasurya for the first time for allegedly attempting to sexually harass a co-actor during the shooting of a film in 2008. The police have recorded the complainant's affidavit. They have sought records of the shooting from the General Administration Department (GAD) and its director, producer and fellow actors.

Soon after the first case, Karamana police arrested Jayasurya and accused him of sexually abusing an actor who had worked with him on a film set in Thodupuzha in Ernakulam district in 2013. Police have handed over both the cases to the Special Investigation Team (SIT), which is investigating the cases.
