Aug. 31 (UPI) – A mother succumbed to her injuries on Saturday after being stabbed during the Notting Hill Carnival last weekend, and renowned chef Mussie Imnetu died on Friday after an attack on Monday during the event.

The Metropolitan Police confirmed both deaths on Saturday.

Cher Maximen, 32, tried to prevent an attack on another person while attending the Notting Hill Carnival with her three-year-old daughter. The attacker stabbed Maximen in front of her daughter at 6pm on Sunday.

Imnetu, 41, was attacked a day later and found unconscious and with serious head injuries in the Notting Hill district on Monday evening.

According to police, Imnetu died on Friday from catastrophic brain injuries and multiple heart attacks. He leaves behind an 8-year-old son.

The “heartbreaking” attacks were a “betrayal of the values that Carnival was founded to celebrate,” said London Mayor Sadiq Khan shortly after the attacks.

Imnetu was a Swedish national and well-known chef who worked with Gordon Ramsay and in top restaurants in London and New York before moving to Dubai to work as a chef.

He was on a business trip in London when he was attacked at 11.20pm in the Queensway area of Nothing Hill.

Notting Hill is in west London and police have arrested suspects in both attacks.

Police arrested 31-year-old Omar Wilson early Wednesday morning. He was charged with aggravated assault on Thursday.

On Tuesday, 20-year-old Shakiel Thibou from Hammersmith was arrested by police and on Thursday Westminster Magistrates' Court charged him with attempted murder.

Thibou's brothers, 24-year-old Sheldon Thibou from Hammersmith and 22-year-old Shaeim Thibou from West Kensington, were also arrested and charged with offences relating to the attack that ended with Maxime being stabbed.

Sheldon Thibou is charged with possession of a stun gun, violent disorder and assault on an emergency medical technician.

Shaeim Thibou is accused of violent disorder and assault on a rescue worker. He pleaded not guilty to both charges.
