Bodies of three children and a man found in house, police report to supervisory authority

The bodies of three children and a man were found by police in a house in Surrey.

Surrey Police said the discovery was made after they were called by the South-East Coast Ambulance Service to the property in Bremer Road, Staines-Upon-Thames, at around 1.15pm today (31 August).

The police are investigating the circumstances but assume that the deaths are an isolated incident without any third party involvement.

The relatives are being cared for by specialist staff and Bremer Road is currently closed.

Due to previous police contact with those involved, Surrey Police has also made a mandatory report to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC).

Chief Inspector Lucy Sanders said: “This is a tragic loss of life in our community and we are working to establish exactly what happened.”

“There is currently a significant police presence on site and in the surrounding area and we would like to thank local residents for their patience and understanding during our investigation.”

Police have made a mandatory referral to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) as there had been previous contact with those involved, the BBC reports.

An IOPC spokesman said: “We were informed today by Surrey Police of the tragic incident in Spelthorne.

“We will consider a police referral to decide whether action needs to be taken by the IOPC.”
