Worker arrested for sexually abusing two-year-old in Kalyan

Titwala police have arrested a 35-year-old man for allegedly kidnapping and sexually assaulting a two-year-old girl in Kalyan taluka. The accused, whose identity is being kept secret, works as a labourer and lives with his wife and two children in the victim's area.

According to police, the incident occurred on Thursday when the minor was playing outside her house. The man kidnapped her and took her to a remote location where he allegedly sexually abused her.

He left the place, leaving the child behind. Police said that the victim managed to return home. As she was crying continuously, her parents questioned her, but she could not describe her ordeal.

Later, the mother became suspicious and examined her body, which showed signs of sexual assault, according to the police. After receiving the report, the police formed two teams. While one team searched the recordings of the surveillance cameras installed in the vicinity, another team was in contact with informants.

The accused was finally arrested on Saturday morning from Kalyan Taluka. During interrogation, he confessed to his crime, police added. He was arrested under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act and has been remanded in judicial custody till September 6.
