CASPER RUUD VS TAYLOR FRITZ

FORECAST

Eighth seed Casper Ruud will face number 12 Taylor Fritz on Sunday for a place in the quarterfinals. It should be an extremely competitive and entertaining duel.

Ruud, the 2022 runner-up, came under increasing pressure throughout the week and had to come from two sets down against 19-year-old Juncheng Shang, but then won the next three 6-0, 6-3 and 6-1. Against a better or perhaps more experienced player, Ruud would not have been able to make a comeback and he will have to play much better here.

He will face Fritz, who has not dropped a single set and has only had to go into a tiebreak in one set. The quality of his opponents was also decent, especially in the second round when he had to play Matteo Berrettini.

However, Ruud has won both of his previous meetings with Fritz, including the French Open earlier this year. However, both matches were hard fought and Fritz will have the home team support on his side. We think Fritz will have just enough to win this match. Ruud has not been as convincing as Fritz so far this week and for that reason we think the home team support will take Fritz into the quarterfinals.
