Tragic death of a deputy police chief in the line of duty

A 53-year-old deputy police commissioner died here while on duty, prompting Prime Minister MK Stalin to express his condolences on the officer's sudden demise.

In an official statement, the CM said that Deputy Commissioner of Police Sivakumar collapsed while on security duty in Anna Salai at around 12:45 pm and was immediately rushed to a government hospital.

Despite immediate medical attention, Sivakumar did not respond to treatment and was declared dead at the hospital. Stalin expressed his regret and announced a relief package of Rs 250 crore for the bereaved family of the ACP.
