Injury drama surrounding Le Joncour
Second division professional apparently receives anesthesia on the pitch

Elversberg defender Florian Le Joncour fell so badly during the 4-0 win over SV Darmstadt that he had to be treated on the pitch for several minutes. There was great concern, and the doctors were taking care of him. The French player was taken away to a tragedy to the applause of the spectators.

The party between SV Elversberg and Darmstadt 98 was interrupted for a long time due to a medical emergency on the pitch. Elversberg defender Florian Le Joncour fell awkwardly on his forearm after a header duel, apparently seriously injured himself and had to be treated on the pitch for several minutes afterwards. The pain was apparently so great that the 29-year-old was given an anesthetic on the pitch. The game was interrupted for around 20 minutes.

Stewards covered the penalty area with cloths while doctors and carers treated Le Joncour. He was taken off the pitch with a tragedy to the applause of the spectators and then driven out of the stadium in an ambulance. As the Saarland second division team announced on X, referee Lukas Benen had held talks with both teams about continuing the game.

Darmstadt with only one win from 31 games

At the time of the break, Elversberg was leading 3-0. Shortly after the game resumed, Elversberg's Filimon Gerezgiher scored to make it 4-0. Relegated Darmstadt 98 is therefore not making any headway in the 2nd Bundesliga. The 0-4 (0-2) defeat at last year's promoted team was the third defeat in four games. Darmstadt has only managed to collect one of a possible twelve points. Across the season, the Hessians have only won one of their last 31 league games.

Luca Schnellbacher put the Lilies behind early on (5th minute). Fisnik Asllani quickly added to the score (20th minute). When Darmstadt showed a little more offensive drive and commitment after the break, Asllani made the decision with his second goal (59th minute). Gerezgiher then added another goal after the long break (90th+2). Elversberg climbed into the middle of the table with their first win of the season.

The Saarlanders dominated proceedings from the kick-off, the guests gave them plenty of space and were completely overwhelmed. Schnellbacher was able to head the ball in without being challenged, and captain Clemens Riedel inadvertently halved the second goal when he deflected Asllani's shot unstoppably. And the third goal was preceded by a catastrophic passing error by Kai Klefisch.
