Couple sues hotel after scorpion 'bites husband's testicles' | US News

A man claims his sex life is ruined and he is suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder after being stung in the testicles by a scorpion.

Michael Farchi, 62, was spending last Christmas with his wife Baita at the Palazzo at the Venetian Resort in Las Vegas when he woke up in pain.

He looked down and realized that the cause of the stabbing pain in his groin and hands was a scorpion sting that was still under the covers on Boxing Day.

In photos provided to 8NewsNow by the couple's attorney, the remains of the allegedly tiny scorpion can be seen still clinging to his underwear.

“I didn't know what it was,” Farchi told the local station. “It felt like a sharp knife or glass stabbed me.”

A lawsuit was filed on behalf of the couple on Tuesday. Michael claims the incident left him with post-traumatic stress disorder and erectile dysfunction.

Baita also sues for loss of marital support because her sex life suffered as a result.

“She claims that her sexual relationship has suffered significantly since the sting,” one of her attorneys, Brian Virag of My Bed Bug Lawyer, told 8NewsNow.

Michael claimed that hotel staff did not take the bite seriously.'[They were] “They just held their groins and laughed about it. It was really embarrassing,” he said.

Michael suffered from “scorpion sting poisoning,” according to a diagnosis from Summerlin Hospital that is also included in the lawsuit. Doctors at UCLA Medical Center also said he suffered erectile dysfunction as a result of the sting.

But the jab has had “many other effects,” he added: “My family, my work, everything.”

The lawsuit states that the Venetian owes a “duty to Plaintiffs to provide a clean, safe and sanitary room … free of vermin, bed bugs or the like, including scorpions.”

Michael is seeking a jury trial to determine damages for past and future medical expenses, pain and suffering, emotional distress, fear, loss of companionship and support, and loss of enjoyment of life.

According to the American Red Cross, a scorpion sting can cause, among other things, headaches, muscle stiffness, blistering, numbness and seizures.
