Jury at “The Tribute”: These are the jurors

In August, the new show “The Tribute” started at SAT.1In a total of five episodes, a three-person jury will search for the best cover band in Germany. Voice, performance and sound will be evaluated. The winners will receive a concert in front of up to 5,000 spectators at the RuhrCongress in Bochum. Matthias Opdenhövel will host “The Tribute – The Show of Music Legends”. The concept is inspired by the Dutch original “The Tribute – Battle of the Bands”.

Yvonne Catterfeld

Yvonne Catterfeld is primarily known as a singer and actress. However, she also has some experience as a jury member: she took part as a coach on “The Voice of Germany” from seasons 6 to 8. She was also a juror in two seasons of “The Voice Senior”. Her album “Change” was released in December 2021, which is also her first completely English-language album. The 44-year-old has the following to say about “The Tribute”: “The music legends of the time shaped stars of yesterday and today and thereby influenced new music.” The good old days also remind us of a phase when music was still real and handmade. And it is precisely in this vibe that we are coming back with 'The Tribute'.”

Conchita Wurst

Conchita Wurst is the fictional character of the Austrian Thomas “Tom” Neuwirth. When Conchita won the 59th Eurovision Song Contest in Copenhagen in 2012 with the song “Rise Like A Phoenix”. At the end of 2019 he sat on the jury alongside Heidi Klum and Bill Kaulitz ProSieben-Show “Queen of Drags”. The following year, he hosted the Free European Song Contest, produced by Stefan Raab, alongside Steven Gätjen. In the show “FameMaker”, broadcast in 2020, Neuwirth appeared on German television for the first time without appearing as Conchita. In “The Tribute” he can be seen again with his fictional character. “Look forward to hits, hits and hits! Well-known songs to sing along to and sometimes to reminisce about. “Just as the studio audience had a lot of fun, I think it's just as fun watching at home,” says Wurst about the show.

Bertram Engel

Bertram Engel is a drummer by profession and is active in Udo Lindenberg's Panikorchester, among others. He has also been working as a drummer for Peter Maffay for over four decades. Bertram Engel is involved in studio recordings and on stage as a drummer, composer and producer. Together with his wife, he runs the Engelart Galerien in Seefeld/Tyrol. At “The Tribute”, the 66-year-old is rising up as an expert in the bands' instrumental performance. “The show offers great interpretations of pop music from the last few decades. “The highlight will be watching the bands week after week as they get better and fight positively against the competition to win the show,” says the drummer.
