The state secretariat of the party also accepted Mukesh's claim that the charges against him were fabricated and that he had evidence to back it. After that, the entire party rallied behind Mukesh in the state committee meeting. Mukesh will continue the legal proceedings against the complainants.

The CPM maintained that there was no practice of resignation on the basis of registration of cases. The party also defended itself by pointing to the cases against UDF MPs who had also decided not to resign.
