Man dies in police shooting in Alexandria

A man died Friday in an incident the Licking County Sheriff's Office called a police shooting. He was accused of trying to stab and kill his sister in an Alexandria home that later caught fire, according to the sheriff's office.

According to the sheriff's office, officers responded to a report of domestic violence at a home in the 4000 block of Northridge Road on Friday, where witnesses allegedly saw a man attempt to stab and kill his sister.

Officers said the house was on fire when they arrived and they found the man after entering the building. The sheriff's office is calling it a police shooting but did not immediately say whether officers shot the man.

None of the officers were injured, but the sister suffered a cut on her hand, the press release said.

The Bureau of Criminal Investigation is investigating the shooting, the press release said.
