DOCO Child Development addresses needs in the first year of its new facility

In the months since Gov. Tony Evers and other stakeholders cut the ribbon on the new Sevastopol facility, DOCO Child Development has been able to respond to the needs of the community. Thanks in part to a Wisconsin Workforce Innovation Grant and partnerships with the United Way of Door County and the Door County Community Foundation, DOCO Child Development was able to officially open its new center in January, offering a better flow for its current students and teachers and more space to welcome new families. The licensed child care center can now serve up to 150 children ages six weeks to seven years, eliminating the long wait list for new families. Additionally, DOCO Child Development can now offer an additional preschool program, more infant care spots, afterschool and summer camp programs, remedial programs, emotional intelligence initiatives and community rental space in the building thanks to a partnership with HeadStart. All of that extra space made Executive Director Alexis Fuller happy in January.

Fuller adds that it is amazing to see the children flourish in a center that our dedicated educators designed specifically for them.
