North Bay News: Man charged with juvenile-related crimes, including manslaughter and sexual assault

A 29-year-old North Bay man is facing several disturbing charges, including manslaughter, after being accused of drugging young people and then sexually abusing them.

In one case, a young person died of a drug overdose.

“After a lengthy police investigation, members of the North Bay Criminal Investigation Division arrested the accused on August 7,” North Bay police said in a press release on Friday.

“In 2022, the defendant repeatedly obtained illegal drugs, distributed them to the victims, and subsequently committed sexual offenses against and with the victims.”

“In one case, the defendant obtained illegal drugs and gave them to one of the victims. These were consumed, resulting in the victim's death from an overdose.”

The victim died in early 2022, police said.

Cody Secord of North Bay and Powassan is charged with manslaughter, 14 counts of drug trafficking, two counts of sexual abuse, two counts of solicitation of sexual touching, one count of voyeurism, three counts of condoning sexual conduct by homeowner, eight counts of violating a child protection order, one count of production of child pornography and one count of possession of child pornography.

Also charged in April 2022

“The North Bay Police Service will not release any further information in connection with this investigation in order to protect the identities of the victims and the integrity of the investigation and ongoing judicial process,” police said.

Secord, also known as Cody Thompson, was charged with giving marijuana to one minor and cocaine to four others in April 2022. At the time, police said they feared there were more victims.

He will remain in custody at the North Bay Courthouse until his next court date.
