Motorcyclist killed in seven-car pileup on I-85 in Greenville Co.

GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) – The South Carolina Highway Patrol said a motorcyclist was killed in a seven-car pileup on I-85 in Greenville County Wednesday evening.

According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, around 11:40 p.m., seven vehicles were traveling north on I-85 near mile marker 52. One of the vehicles, a motorcycle, drove into the back of a dump truck, causing the other five cars to collide with the motorcycle.

Several ambulances and Greenville County officials arrived at the scene around midnight.

The Greenville County Coroner's Office identified the motorcyclist as 50-year-old Travis Emil Jones of Wellford.

Police said no one else was injured in the accident.

As officers diverted vehicles around the accident site, debris was visible on the highway.
