Memorial honors young Moorhead girl killed in stabbing at Gooseberry Park

MOORHEAD, Minn. (Valley News Live) – A memorial has been set up for a young Moorhead girl who was stabbed to death in Gooseberry Park last week.

Jaelyn Walker was just 14 years old. She was supposed to start her freshman year at Moorhead High School that week.

It's unclear how long the memorial has been there. It includes a photo of Walker, a cross, flowers, a pair of red shoes and more. It is located near the Red River where she was found, in the area of 6th Ave. & Elm St.

According to the documents, her mother reported her missing on August 19. Investigators were able to track her phone and find her the next morning.

18-year-old Issac Arndt was arrested shortly afterward and charged with her murder. He is being held in the Clay County Jail on $1 million bail.

According to court documents, the two had recently separated and agreed to meet at the park. The records say the two began arguing and that Arndt admitted to stabbing Walker 13 times before fleeing the scene.
