Sensational teenager Nestory Irankunda has overcome a shock injury during FC Bayern Munich training and is expected to be called up to the Socceroos' squad for the upcoming FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Bahrain and Indonesia.

The former A-League prodigy screamed in pain after being tackled by Bayern midfielder Joao Palhinha during training during the week.

The 18-year-old winger was surrounded by players while he was treated by medical staff.

Eventually, Irankunda was driven off the field in a golf cart.

However, fears were allayed when he was reportedly seen leaving the training ground on foot.

Socceroos coach Graham Arnold said last week he would have no hesitation in including Irankunda in his squad (to be announced on Friday) for next Thursday's clash with Bahrain on the Gold Coast and the match against Indonesia in Jakarta on September 10.

The former Adelaide United star, who made his debut for the Socceroos in June, has made an encouraging start to his career at Bayern and continues to fight for a place in the club's Bundesliga squad.

Among those who will join him in the Socceroos squad is another former Adelaide winger, Awer Mabil, who is currently making a comeback to his club career with Swiss club Grasshoppers.

Mabil's last of 33 appearances for the Socceroos was in Australia's 1-0 loss to England at Wembley in October last year.

Mabil's hopes of being included in the Socceroos squad for the Asian Cup in January and February were dashed by injury and he missed Australia's final 13 matches.

The Socceroos squad is also expected to include Queensland native and former Melbourne City midfielder Aiden O'Neill, who has made a good start to the European season as captain of Belgian Premier League club Standard Liege.

O'Neill, 26, was a member of Australia's Asian Cup squad but was sent off in the Socceroos' 2-1 quarter-final loss to South Korea.

Due to suspension and injury, he was not named in the squad for the Socceroos' final four matches.

Defender Lewis Miller, who plays for Scottish club Hibernian, is also likely to be called up to the national team again.

Miller has also not played for the Socceroos since the Asian Cup.

In the absence of injured duo Ryan Strain and Gethin Jones, as well as Nathaniel Atkinson, who sits on the bench at his Scottish club Hearts, Miller and Japan-based Thomas Deng are expected to fight hard for the Australian right-back spot.
