Woman dies, another person injured after falling into canal in ATV accident in southwest Miami-Dade

MIAMI DADE COUNTY, Florida. – Miami-Dade police are investigating a fatal ATV crash that occurred Thursday afternoon in southwest Miami-Dade.

According to the Miami-Dade Fire Department, emergency crews responded to the area between Southwest 112th Street and 157th Avenue shortly after 1 p.m. after receiving reports of people in distress in a canal.

Police later confirmed that two women had lost control of an off-road vehicle and ended up in a canal.

MDFR divers pulled both women from the water.

According to police, one victim was treated at the scene and the other was taken to a local hospital where he died.
