Aprilia fires the “spy” mechanic in MotoGP

Aprilia fires the “spy” mechanic in MotoGP

On Sunday morning of the Austrian MotoGP, an Aprilia mechanic was caught scanning some bikes in the pit lane with an iPad equipped with LiDAR technology. Cameras showed Ducati team manager Davide Tardozzi visibly annoyed when he noticed the situation.

A few days later, the Italian cleared Aprilia management of any blame, claiming that the mechanic had acted without the knowledge of his superiors. Now, shortly before the Aragon GP, Aprilia has fired the mechanic involved, reports The-Race.com.

Before this action, Tardozzi had already called on Aprilia to take action. He told SPEEDWEEK.com that even Aprilia's team boss Romano Albesiano was angry about the incident at the Red Bull Ring. It was reported that other bikes were affected in addition to the Desmosedici GP.

With this dismissal, the case now seems to be closed without any institutional problems arising between Aprilia and Ducati.
