A Wells Fargo employee was found dead in an office in Tempe, Arizona, four days after starting work, authorities said.

According to Tempe police, 60-year-old Denise Prudhomme checked in to work around 7 a.m. on Friday, August 16, and never checked out.

On-site security at Wells Fargo alerted Tempe police on Tuesday, August 20, after discovering her body.

Sergeant Ryan Cook said police found Prudhomme in a cubicle on the third floor of the multi-story Wells Fargo building.

The cause of death remains under investigation, but police say a preliminary examination has revealed no obvious signs of foul play. The Office of the Medical Examiner will conduct a further medical evaluation, Cook said.

“When I hear her sitting at her desk like that, it makes me sick,” an employee told ABC News 12. “And nobody did anything. That's how she spent her last moments.”

In a statement to CBS News partner AZFamily, Wells Fargo said:

“We are deeply saddened by the tragic loss of our colleague in our Tempe office. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and loved ones during this difficult time. Advisors from our Employee Assistance Consulting service are available to assist our employees. We are cooperating fully with the Tempe Police Department in their investigation and will refer any further questions to them.”
