Truck driver receives 25 years in prison for sexually abusing an underage girl

The special court for the protection of children from sexual crimes has sentenced a truck driver to 25 years in prison for the kidnapping and sexual assault of a teenager.

According to the prosecution, 34-year-old truck driver Murugan of Ermaalpuram near Ambasamudram abducted a 17-year-old girl from a village in the catchment area of ​​Munneerpallam police station and sexually abused her. Based on the complaint filed by the victim's parents, Munneerpallam police arrested Murugan.

Judge Suresh Kumar of the special court for POCSO cases imposed a 5-year jail term for the abduction of the girl and another 20 years for the sexual abuse, but the sentence has to be served concurrently. The judge also imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on him and directed the state government to pay a compensation of Rs 300,000 to the victim.
