FRIDAY

The City of Aiken Parks, Recreation and Tourism hosts a Senior Fun Day from noon to 2 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 30, at the Lessie B. Price Aiken Senior and Youth Center, 841 Edgefield Ave. NW. There will be bingo, games, food, music, vendors and more. Participation is $5 per person and open to those 50 and older. Registration is open July 29-Aug. 23 at the H. The The Aiken County Veterans Council hosts its first Chairman's Cup competition for regional JROTC programs from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 31, at the Aiken County Government Center, 1930 University Parkway. Competing schools include Aiken High, Midland Valley High, Silver Bluff High, South Aiken High, North Augusta High and Wagener-Salley High.

The holistic fair “Herb is the Word” takes place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 31, at Boondock Farms, 755 Foreman St., Jackson. Guest speakers include Kristi Cook of Heart of Pine Homestead, Angie King of King's Mortar & Pestle and Kelly Harvey of Sol Shrine Alchemy. Yoga and sound bath activities begin at noon. The Alcoholics Anonymous group “Back to Basics” meets in person at 7 p.m. Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 961 Trail Ridge Road. Masks are recommended for those who are not vaccinated.

SUNDAY

Quakers (Religious Society of Friends) will be holding a virtual worship service on Sunday, September 1st. The meeting is open to all and visitors are welcome.
